OUR EVIDENCE RULES
Storyjoltviewstck was founded on a simple principle: film analysis should be conducted with the rigorous discipline of forensic inquiry. We distinguish verified narrative fact from speculative fan projection.
1. The Supremacy of the Screen Text
When analyzing narrative meaning, the final theatrical or director's cut released to the public constitutes primary evidence. Promotional interviews, casual press junket quips, and retroactive social media commentary by writers or directors are secondary references—never definitive proof. If an interpretation cannot be grounded in lighting, sound, blocking, editing, or scripted dialogue, we label it uncorroborated.
2. The Architecture of Ambiguity
Certain masterworks are intentionally constructed without a singular factual resolution. When analyzing films like David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive or John Carpenter’s The Thing, our responsibility is not to invent a comforting false solution. Our role is to trace the boundary lines of what the film supports, showing where concrete evidence ends and where ambiguity becomes the artistic point itself.
3. Visual & Audio Integrity
Cinema is a multi-sensory medium. We analyze the audio landscape—such as leitmotif transformations by composers like Hans Zimmer, Bernard Herrmann, or Mica Levi—with the same seriousness as visual cinematography. A shift in musical key often signals an unreliable narrator long before a script reveals it through dialogue.
4. Ethical Spoiler Demarcation
Because our dossiers dissect final images, climax solutions, and narrative pivots, every page features explicit spoiler warnings. We treat narrative surprises as artistic craft to be respected, ensuring casual readers are never blindsided by critical plot details.
